DIAGNOSIS

METASTATIC RENAL CELL CARCINOMA

 

DISCUSSION

FNA shows presene of well differentiated clusters and sheets and also single cells showing  low N/C ratio, some columnar shape, some cells with round uniform shape, and in some clusters with tendency to grow along capillaries. The nucleus of most cells show fine chromatin and in some cells the nucleolus is prominent.  The cytology is consistent with the clinical history of Renal Cell Carcinoma, metastatic to lung. Patient has a history of a huge mass in the kidney consistent with RCC.  The findings of the immediate touch interpretation were confiremed with the core biopsy of the lung showing image of clasical RCC.
